Dhurandhar Aditya Dhar's film making roar in bollywood is probably the best in the last few years. He builds experiences. And with Dhurandhar: The Revenge*He's created something that very few Indian directors ever manage. He's made a sequel that actually feels more blockbuster than the original.
Storyline
Dhurandhar: The Revenge film picks up where the first part left off, following an undercover spy agent who continues infiltrating Karachi's criminal syndicates and Pakistani politics. While avenging the 26/11Mumbai attacks and confronting even larger threats. Ranveer Singh carries the weight of every scene of the Dhurandhar. He's electric, intense, and completely unrecognizable from his earlier Bollywood character. This is a different Ranveer Singh altogether.
The film runs nearly four hours — 229 minutes with Indian censors, and reportedly 235 minutes in overseas screenings. That's a bold gamble. But it pays off.
Box Office: The Numbers Tell the Story
On Day 0 of the release with ₹43 crore in advance previews alone. Day 1 pushed the India net total to ₹102.55 crore. And Day 2 dipped slightly typical for a post-preview Friday but still crossed the limit of ₹200 crore in India before Eid.
However on Saturday, day 3 collections surged back to ₹113 crore, taking the total India net collection to ₹339.27 crore and worldwide gross past ₹550 crore. The film dominates the North American box office with unprecedented momentum for a Bollywood release.
The Verdict
However, critics stay divided, some call it propaganda dressed in patriotism spread by politicians. On the other side people call it the most gripping spy thriller Indian cinema has produced. But, SS Rajamouli publicly said the film surpasses the original in both scale and soul. Let's see where it goes in upcoming days.
